Why?

Why:  Some would define “gadfly” as a person trying to provoke others into action. The writer didn’t set out to be a gadfly.  The writer had hoped to provide a perspective that might spark a new idea or insight for AD researchers, or donors, or administrators, maybe reveal blind spots, or at least start discussions. This blog was started in hopes of extending the readership, and conversations. The writer’s perspective  comes from decades in hematology-oncology as a bedside clinician and clinical investigator, dealing with IRB’s and enduring audits.  His latest project was developing a screening tool to detect adolescent and young adult mood and distress (abstract at ASPHO).
